“Campus Radio” operating under the Department of Mass Media at Sri Palee Campus of the University of Colombo is a radio station operating under the concept of community radio. It organizes many projects throughout the year for the community inside the university as well as outside. One of the projects organized by Campus Radio this year is the “Akura 2024”. The “Akura 2024” project was held on March 22, 2024 this year, this project was held at BAP/Ho Ratiyala Sri Jinaratana Primary School. Through this project, the first and second year students of Ratiyala Sri Jinarathana Primary School had their classrooms renovated.
The second year fraternity of Sri Palee Campus participated in this and provided financial and material support. The newly enlarged classrooms were handed over to the students in a ceremony on March 22 and the event was attended by Dr. Pratibha Mahanamaheva, Rector of Sri Palee Campus, University of Colombo, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Mass Media, Professor Dharmakeerthi Sri Ranjan and Senior Lecturer, Permanent Student Councillor, Campus Radio Coordinator, Attorney at law Mrs. Kalani Irosha Dharmasiri and Divisional Education Director, Miss Ayesha Ratugamage, The Radio Management Board and the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Project participated in this. Itis related to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
