Programme 1: Books and Stationary Donation Programme Organized by Department of Mass Media

The Centre for Media Research of Sri Palee Campus organized a book and stationary donation programme for rural students in P/ Ilukwewa Secondary School. This programme was conducted from 2nd to the 4th October 2019 at the Ilukwewa school premises. The events organized for school students were a friendly cricket tournament, a Sinhala literature workshop for O/L students, a personality development and a mental/physical fitness programme. The program ended with a musical evening. The aim of this voluntary program was to help needy children’s education.

Programme 2: A Video Production to Enhance the Vaccination Program Against COVID 19.

Enhancing vaccination against the COVID-19 is a critical public health challenge. Under the guidance and instructions of the Rector, the Department of Performing Arts of Sri Palee Campus with the collaboration of Koombiyo Tele drama crew created a COVID vaccination awareness video named “COVID 19 Vaccination: Take It or Leave It” as a social responsibility during this pandemic situation.

The main objective of this production is to educate the society regarding the importance of having the COVID vaccination and make aware of the health instructions to protect from the virus. Furthermore this was a creative interference that can reach to the society to make them aware and encourage to get the vaccination against the virus. The original Sinhala dialogue in the video were subtitled into both the Tamil and the English languages.
